obs motor into super duty

ive been toying with the idea of a mild build for a month or so...even though i told myself i didnt wanna do anything to the truck when i bought it.. besides the point though lol. i got pmrs and a friend of a friend just rolled his 95 obs with 190k on it. said he would sell me the motor besides the turbo and injectors for 450 bucks if i take out myself. is that a good enough deal? i have no idea to be honest... so i been considering buying that and building as i can offord things. would that obs motor hook up just like the one i got? all the wiring and what ever else? i got a rough idea on what id like to do with the motor, but will probably change. i just need some pointers on obs motor in super duty, and if the price is right on that motor.

That's a good price. Unless something really bad came from a compression test.

Only thing you'd really need to change would be the valve cover gaskets and uvch. And personally I'd just use the ones right off your current motor when the time came.

And pull the fuel pump and plug the hole.

I personally think that's a good deal I would buy it. Its a direct fit. Im pretty sure the only differences between obs and sd are the turbo, hpop ,injectors, the flywheel if you have a manual trans and the fuel pump. You can use the pcm in your sd just have it tuned for single shots.

He's not getting the injectors or turbo, and if he's doing a build, some form of hpop should be in there anyhow, though he could use the SD one anyhow. I'd def say go for it.

Re: obs motor into super duty

I believe the differences are insignificant. But it'd def be worth double checking before one goes back in.
