injector swap

I'm installing injectors on my 97. ran into trouble removing the #7 injector, hits the a/c housing. anyone have the scoop on getting it out?

Remove the insulation take out 2 screws 8mm one top one bottom. Move vacuum box out of the way and party on.

ya i am surprised you got the valve cover off w/o doin that it will make that much easier too

I did the same thing when I put my injectors in. Getting the valvecover bolts out with that thing on there is a major PITA.

A little word of wisdom, set the valvecover back on while you are taking the inulation and vacuum box off. That will keep a bunch of dirt and crap from flying all over the exposed area.

And yes I do know this from expierence. You don't know how angry I was at myself for not thinking that one through before I ripped the insulation off there.

Well got it done. Had to buy new injector harness and valve cover gasket. Only mod done so far, can tell diff already!!! Thanks for the input

Is there ageneral rule of thumb as to when injectors wear out,or does it depend on how well you did the required maintenance? My truck has 301000 miles on stock injectors. The truck runs much better now with new lift pump & a FASS system installed as my old lift pump died over the weekend.
