another 38r question

I have had the 38r with a 1.15 exhaust housing on for 1 week. I do like the changes to the driveability a lot.
Today I was pulling a 16 ft. enclosed trailer 7 ft. tall weighing approx.5,000 lbs, when I went up a hill from a stop sign, once in 6th gear at 65 mph I saw the EGTs reach 1250 degrees with no propane.
What I am asking is this normal or out of line?

99.5 F-350 SRW 6 speed mods:PHP live tuned., MSD propane system, snow water injection,DDP stage 1 injectors,AFE stage II air intake,ITP boost regulater,3.5 turbo back exaust,FASS fuel system. Gulf Coast oil bypass filtration, ITP reg. return, HPX oil line , GTP 38r with 1.15,EBPV delete. 430,000 miles,Adrenaline HPOP

Re: another 38r question

Well not sure you should pull in 6th up hill, if you drop down to 5th or even 4th, your EGT's will drop.

Re: another 38r question

What were your RPM's at 65? If you were pulling from a stop and accelerating to 65 sure, but once you get to 65 and just cruise they should come back down.

Re: another 38r question

How much power are you making? I could run my tow program wide ass open and never exceed 1100 degrees no matter what when running the 38R with the 1.15. That was over 300rwhp.

Sounds like you may have been lugging the engine.

Re: another 38r question

Assuming stock gearing and tires he was only turning around 1800 RPM's. Downshift to 5th (direct) and your egt's will drop to around 900*. I do this almost everyday.

2000 F350 PSD, 4X4, CC, LB, 6-speed/ PHP Tuning /1.0 Turbo (no wastegate) with WW/ 4" turbo back exhaust/ AIS Intake with fender sleeve/ Isspro EV gauges/

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!

1800 RPM's. There was about 1/4 mile of flat ground before grade.

I really don't know how much power, I've never dynoed My truck.Been thinking of going next door to Beans or somewhere and see.
I probably was lugging the engine if lugging is basicly little or no acceleration in given gear.
I am just trying to learn the new turbo and was making sure to ask a few questions.

Re: another 38r question

what tune were you in? 1800 rpm isnt exactly ideal for towining up a hill, to try and gain or even maintin speed at that rpm uphill will result in high EGTs
