My dad's superduty had the same problem. I looked under the hood and noticed that the c-clip for the wastegate rod had fallen off and the flapper was just sticking open. A result was a bleedoff of a lot of pressure resulting in high egt's. Take a look at the wastegate rod on the turbo and see if it is still connected.
