Single ProCharger?

Seems like it wouldn't be that difficult to throw a ProCharger on instead of the stock turbo...
What kind of hp can a ProCharger support?
Stage II's or maybe some small hybrids with a properly sized pro-charger seems like it could be a hell of a ride.....

I'm talking 7.3's...
Not 6.0's...

Re: Single ProCharger?

it would be responsive, but then you are giving up the coolest thing about a diesel. Its efficency with a turbo, a turbo is almost like free hp, and a procharger or any type of blower takes hp directly from the crank to spin it.

Re: Single ProCharger?

For the sake of argument, let's say the Procharger flows twice as much cfm as the stock turbocharger. How much more hp would be made with the Procharger considering it's parasitic loss?

Re: Single ProCharger?

IMO you will not get the most efficiency out of the procharger because of the one thing that the 7.3 does not have: RPM

Paired with the turbo would be MUCH more efficient. I would think you would see little to no gain just because you need RPM to get that blower spinning to move some air.

Re: Single ProCharger?

That's what I was thinking... even with the parasitic loss, it should be able to build hp lower, faster.... so it should more than make up for the loss... I don't think it would be the best for EVERY application, but in times when you don't get to sit and build boosht to spool the turbo, it would be nice... And I especially think it would be good for 6ohs because they rely on the charger so heavily...

But that's what the sizing of the supercharger's pulley is for? To make it efficient throughout the entire RPM range?
