Question Fuel pump ideas?

I did regulated return on my motor last month, deleted the fuel bowl, running a dahl 150 under the frame. My fuel pump pressures are dropping now from 62psi, down to 0-20psi WOT. The pump is also making wierd noises, so Im assuming its on its last leg(original pump 171K miles).

What would yall recommend for a new pump and what are the prices of these options. I plan to step up the injectors one day.

Check out the walbro 255lph here: http://www.inlinefuelpumps.com/. I am going to give one a shot and see what happens. I too have the same problem. Fuel system going in this weekend.

Re: Fuel pump ideas?

Howard, two things. One, be sure the pump is diesel rated if you are at all worried about warranty. I found out after the fact that my Bosch 044 pump is not diesel rated, so I'm out on getting it warrantied.

Two, be very careful about buying from that guy who you linked to. That looks like the same company (Express Fuel Pumps) that was screwing a lot of people out of some money earlier this year, if you remember anything about that. He was taking money, no pumps would show up, make some excuse as to why, people would request refunds, and then almost all contact with the guy would be eliminated. What a PITA.

Re: Fuel pump ideas?

J,
I ordered the pump on Monday and it showed up yesterday. I talked to Shawn. I do remember that whole Bosch 044 rip off era. I did not pay attention that it was the same guy. I did pay through PayPal so I could at least have some recourse through them.

I confirmed the pump is diesel rated. Bean asked me the same thing so I called to confirm prior to placing the order.

Howard, I have the same pump sitting here for my 97, from the same company. I'll be interested to see how it works for you. If it doesn't, you'll save me some time!

Re: Fuel pump ideas?

Well, I just went and ordered the Aeromotive A1000Black pump. I need something very soon, I dont think this pump is going to last much longer. I have my dp in the 60tow tune, and im hoping that it helps keep the pump lasting until I get this pump.

Re: Fuel pump ideas?

I figured if it did not flow enough then I would get another and run one to each head. Still cheaper than an A1000 if I have to buy two. I am planning on installing the full fuel system this weekend if everything goes right. Fuel Bowl delete, new pump and regulated return. I will keep you all informed.
