SoCal live tuning w/ Jody and John Wood

It's hard not to leave an event like that w/o a perma grin. I was the first up for tuning yesterday, and while tuning we noticed that my HPOPs were popping off too soon. The difference from 3200 to 3450 was good for 200EGTs. We decided to shim the pumps and retune. Because of my intake manifolds, we had to pull the top of the motor down and remove the pumps from the truck.

This is the point where I was blown away. Jody told me to take my time and shim the truck so that we could tune it right. John told me to use any of the tools that I needed, and he helped me when it came time to pull the pumps out. We got the truck back together around 4:00, and then took it back out to tune. I kept blowing the hose off the turbo @ 40psi. We finally went back and John gave me a can of Aqua Net. It didn't move after that.

I can't say enough about how great everyone was to work with. There where were probably 40-50 people there all day. John had a taco truck come for lunch, and pizza in the morning.

Dennis from ITP was there as were alot of other great people from SoCaps.

I got the truck on the dyno around 9:00 and made 470/907 in my DD tune. I laid down 516/1187 in my race tune. I can't believe how good the truck runs.

I'll post up pix later today.

Thanks again for a great time. Can't wait for the next time.

Nice info. Glad to hear you got it all together and on the dyno.
Waiting to hear some more good reports out of this tuning session.

Re: SoCal live tuning w/ Jody and John Wood

Anybody getting a 6spd tuned, with stock injectors and no oil? I am wondering if anyone is going to allow Jody to tweak his 6spd tunes so the rest of us may benefit.

2002 f-350 PSD, 4x4, cc short bed, 6spd, ccv mod, airdog, AIS filter, isspro ev and scangauges, detroit TT, ITP boost annihalator, ITP RR, bellowed up-pipes, ats housing, turbomaster, 3.5 dp magnaflow, very happy with ultra smooth and linear PHP 50t, 80DD and "whisper" tunes.

Jody tuned Muley's 99 6 speed. He said that it worked out great.
