Another Spring question... ASAP Please

Still looking for the valve springs, had the guys looking up the 910 part number and its not coming up as a Powerstroke specific spring but has the correct size...

Can anyone pull a correct part number or conferm this is what you all are using.

Thanks!

FYI, Motor came out today, going to send the wife down tomarrow to take some pic's if she can... She had knee surgery on thursday so asking for something... well... it might be a little tricky...

CCA-910-16

Look here: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=CCA%2D910%2D16&N= 700+0&autoview=sku

Summit will price match. Use this site for the price to match as they have the best price anywhere: http://www.hallspeedshop.com/valve-springs-p-19514.html

Not specific for powerstroke. Call Bean if you need a pro to verify.

Re: Another Spring question... ASAP Please

They are not PowerStroke specific springs. They aren't specific to any engine in the respect they are bolt in type direct replacement. They work fine in a 7.3 however. I ordered Comp PN#26120-16 springs

If so, then you also ordered replacement retainers also, correct? The locks will work but the spring you ordered a larger in diameter spring than stock or the 910's, correct?

How much $$$ do seats and locks typically run?

I have heard the total is about $350 for that set up, where as the 910's are about $90...

I am counting my penneys at this point so the $100 bill looks real good...

Re: Another Spring question... ASAP Please

I think I payed about 215 for springs, seats, locks and retainers. I bought them from Comp Specailties in Auburn, Summit is a bit higher.

Anything is better than stock.

Re: Another Spring question... ASAP Please

Anything from Comp is more than you can get it from Summit. The prices they sell to the dealers is about the same or a touch more than Summit sells to the public. Then the dealer marks it up etc. Ideally who ever is installing them should be checking each one and shimming to the proper seat pressure. They should be setting them approximatly 10% high to allow for the settlement of new springs.

Remember that pinching pennies is good where it's safe. But don't skimp on parts that are hard to replace down the road or parts that you really need to pay for the quality up front. $100 extra now is well worth the couple thousand saved in repair bills down the road when the valve starts hitting the piston and busts the head off and takes out a piston, cylender, head.
