turbo question

I looked once before but I always forget what sites I go to.. one site I went to sold a t-4 up pipe kit and and pedistal for a s300 turbo..

Or would you recommend a different turbo h2e .. or gt38r were going with stg 1-2 inj 's

SnowWhite- hot tune, head work, stuff deleted, little more air flow. Your not so typical 6.slow

Previous truck- 95 12v 550hp. Lots of fuel lots of timing.. head work big sticks... SOLD to younger brother

Re: turbo question

38r is a good turbo for up to small hybrids. theres one for sale in the classifieds with bellowed up pipes for a good price. modded h2e is a tough turbo as well

Re: turbo question

S300 would be my choice. Im not on the 38r bandwagon. I have an issue with spending 1400 on a turbo than when it needs a rebuild your stuck buying a 1200$ CHRA.
But if its not a life long truck you'll prolly never need a rebuild.

Re: turbo question

I've never seen a 38r break with a set of 160's. For the money you can't beat it. Or you can listen to a guy who has never even run a 38r

Re: turbo question

For just mild injectors(stage 1 and 2) a 38R will suit your needs just fine and will last. However, I personally like the Bell HFSB if you are wanting the best you can get. It is not a drop in turbo though, so you will have to go to a different mount. We carry both the 38R and Bell HFSB if you are interested.

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Yup I've never run one nor will I. (Unless I fall into one for free or for next to nothing.) Its the principal of the thing. Its a great turbo, I've installed one for a buddy. But anything that will cost me 80% of its orginial value to rebuild won't be bought by me. But most things I buy I go into with the mind set of owning it for life. Usually doesn't happen but that's how I plan stuff.
For someone who doesn't plan on owning their truck for more than say 5 or 6 maybe even 8 years I think its an excellent chose.

If Garrett would bring down the price of the chra to 600, I'd consider buying one. 40-50% rebuild cost I could stomach it for the awesome gains u get for the money.

Its not that I think it'll break. Its that it has moving parts which means someday it will wear out.

Re: turbo question

everything wears out. i'd much rather have a modded h2e or the bell hfsb. drive pressure on an s366 sucks

Re: turbo question

My brother doesn't want anything more the 425-450 because he has pmr rods. .I agree 1400 $ is a lot for just a turbo I have less then that in my y pipes and trubo lol .. who makes a pedistal for t -4 pipes I know swamps makes t-4 pipes.. I'm about to upgrade my turbo from a 64/68/83 to a 66/73/91 cold my old s364 work on a 7.3? The thing spools up on stock sticks better then my stock vgt. (But thats a 6.0)

I will look intp all these options thanks trying to do a budget build and help mt brother out seeing in all he just got out of the military
