Ford AIS flow numbers

Anybody have any flow numbers for the AIS intake? We've got one here for a special project, and we need ALOT of airflow.

The last cold air intake we had on this truck was way too restrictive, the AFE filter was actually sucked in/crushed like a soda can.

The engine we are needing this for is an CR ISL Cummins, and yes it is in a Super Duty.

We need plenty of airflow with good filtration, the AFE we were using had to be cleaned every 5k or so IIRC, and this was an on-road only truck.

Re: Ford AIS flow numbers

I know my AFE Stage II flows more air than the AIS I replaced with it. EGT's were cooler with the AFE set-up.

If that's the case, I guess we're going in the wrong direction.

What are the guys with big singles or twins running for an air filter? Or at least what do they run on the street?

Re: Ford AIS flow numbers

If you poke around the 6oh forum, they say the OEM 6oh intake is good upto 500 hp, and its also a donaldson powercore design (like the AIS) which nets great UOAs, and has airflow going the right direction IMO. AFE has a couple of models, PG7 being their best filtering oiled filter, but they have an oil free version too. Maybe the one you crused had a defect? As much as I would like to say this, maybe the 6637 whatever model most people end up running is a good answer for you.

DRW and tow fast parts.......

Re: Ford AIS flow numbers

I think you need an afe like this. The same size as the big Tymer air filter but with the flow of a Gauze one.I doubt you would crush this one with all that surface area over the standard afe's

Re: Ford AIS flow numbers

Thanks for the info guys, I forgot to mention that the CAI we were using was a Volant intake box. The filter looked like you had jumped up and down on it, lol.

Anyone know where to get that big AFE? I remember seeing it somewhere.
