5" SS EXHAUST ???

I'm new to site and I'm sorry if I'm asking a redundant question...
But I am looking for information about a true 5" exhaust from turbo back.
Is this even possible ? If anyone has any input please reply!
I'm thinking 5" SS from turbo back and then split in front of axle to 4" duels
All open ( no cat or muffler)

Re: 5" SS EXHAUST ???

i dont think the outlet to the turbo s any bigger than 4" plus the agreivation of fitting a 5" pipe in between the firewall and the engine would be a pain. I sugest a 4" down pipe with a 5" from there on out. would be a loud mofo for sure without muffs. I don't know how yall drive all day without muffs. I got the spiral flow from swamps for my 4" system and it is freakin nice loud when you get on it but quiet as heck when cruising.

Re: 5" SS EXHAUST ???

Ok thanks for input!
If turbo output pipe is only 4" then what is the gain from 5" after that?
And as far as loudness I'm kinda hoping for the y at duels to break that up some! Lol
Also I was looking at Diamond Eye set up in SS ..... Has anyone had any experience with their 4" set up ? I want to keep my stock spare tire under bed!

Re: 5" SS EXHAUST ???

it would just have a different sound to it. deeper sound. strait pipe 5" will be loud and will resonate up through your cab at odd rpms and loads.... the 4" strait will do that as well though.

Re: 5" SS EXHAUST ???

My 5" strait pipe isn't any louder then my buddy's 4" strait pipe.. mine has a little deeper growl at WOT then his does.. mine also sets off car alarms on main street when I get after it....his wont..... there are no HP gains or loss of power until you get into the big HP level.

Re: 5" SS EXHAUST ???

I've got 4" turbo back no muffler and in my opinion it's not too horribly loud inside the cab. I noticed it did seem to get alittle louder after I put in my stage 3s but as far as cruising down the road for me it's perfectly manageable.

Re: 5" SS EXHAUST ???

I'm running single out in the factory position. I've towed up to around 30k and on a extended trip if you don't like the sound of louder exhaust it could get annoying to some people. But in my case I also have 33/12.50s with a fairly aggressive tread design so I have a low to moderate tire noise to drowned it out so take that for what its worth to you as well. Since I put it on I haven't once thought to myself that I wish I would've put a muffler on.

Re: 5" SS EXHAUST ???

That sounds acceptable to me!
If it is too loud my next upgrade will be a new stereo system so that should take care of that!
Thanks for your input...... Has anyone used the diamond eye dual setup?
That system has struck my interest , but I haven't found anyone running it.
Or heard how well it really works around the factory spare tire.

Re: 5" SS EXHAUST ???

I have the mbrp 5" system with no muffler, exits behind passenger rear wheel similar to stock. It has a nice deep tone, and I don't notice any nasty drone noise. The most I hear is actually engine noise itself. Also note that I have an eclb, and 6 speed. So the exit is pretty far away from me, and I can shift to run the truck at the rpm that I wish. I suppose I could also be used to loud exhaust from driving the KW with 7" straights Totally happy with this system, wouldn't change anything about it. Also, for the love of god, when you do your exhaust, make sure your tip (if you run one) is tucked up under your truck... I can't stand when you see a big fat ugly tip sticking out the side of a truck past the wheel or hanging way down at a weird angle.
