suggestions on u joints

Getting to the point of changing u joints and carrier in my pickup and was wondering if I should just go with spicers or something better, total plans with the pickup will stay under 500 horse.

Re: suggestions on u joints

I replaced mine with a parts house brand, they do fine so far, however the drive line guys I took the shafts to for balancing were adamant that the next time I should go back to spicers, they're point was that the spicers lasted 160k miles for a reason and I have a hard time arguing with that, although I will say I've seen the spicers go pretty quick on some trucks and on some they last forever like they did on mine.

Re: suggestions on u joints

Mine are greasable but I was told to go back with spicer triple seal sealed units, their point was the seals on a greasable unit are designed to let old grease out, if old grease can get out then contaminates can get in

Of course you could always drop a couple grand and put in super joints

Re: suggestions on u joints

Really don't see any problems with spicers just didn't know how they held up to 1300 plus ft lbs of torque.
