Exhaust advise......

Well I'm in the market for a new exhaust from turbo back. I want something that's not to loud when idle but when I get on it want it to be nice loud and throaty. Any ideas? 4"-5"-6"-8"? Full exhaust it miter stacks? Do I have to change my exhaust manifolds to get that loud throaty sound? My other mods I'm the process of getting are a tuner and looking to go twin turbos. Gauge pod (what gauges to put in pod?).

Re: Exhaust advise......

What is your end horsepower goal? You realize the pile of money your gonna have in supporting mods to get the full use out of twin turbos right?

Re: Exhaust advise......

Honestly the sky is the limit when it comes to hp. When someone says I want to get 500hp. They get it and a little while later they want more hp. So I can't honestly answer that question. I know I'm going to have some bread in the build. I have a 01 7.3 on the floor that I picked up cheap and I'm going to build it for a sleeper drag motor. That's why I mentioned the twin turbo set up, also debating on nitro #### as well if its possible. I know what kind of money I had in building the twin turbo set up for my car so I know it's at least gonna double.

Re: Exhaust advise......

If you go over 500 horse your looking needing 5 inch exhaust, if you stay under 500 4 inch will be enough, just to give you an idea I'm only building for between 450 and 500 and I already know that I'll be at a minimum of 10 grand and that's not including if I decided to go to a different turbo that makes me have to upgrade to a t4 mount.

Re: Exhaust advise......

I'm looking to be in the ballpark of 550-650 hp. That's the goal anyways.

Re: Exhaust advise......

Better be looking to see if it's a forged rod or pmr motor.

Re: Exhaust advise......

I have a 99 7.3 with 4" turbo back into 8" pypes stack and its just what you discribed not insanely loud at idle definate increase in the turbo whistle at idle. I had a kid cover his ears when i was goin through town at 20 mph yesterday cause of the turbo whistle. Haha.
but when you put ur foot in it its decently loud. Not to obnoxious though. Muffler deleted also.
