Re: intake

I had a DIY intake for years and it worked great. The only thing that got me was when I put on my AE I found out that my intake air temp was over 200*. Then I decided to get a real intake and get the AFE stage 2 since I like to drag race and I sled pull.

So to make my long story from above short. Get the AFE stage 2.

What was the intake air temp (manifold air temperature post intercooler or intake air temperature) after you changed to the AFE stage 2.

In Redding, Ca, 105* ambient, my intake temps were running between 198* and 215* with an open air intake system.

In Sonora, Ca, 98* ambient, my intake temps were running between 110* and 120*.

AFE stage 2 with ZooDad mod was the only thing I changed between events.

Re: intake

Isn't the only difference between the stage 1 AFE and the stage 2 the cold air box and the torque tube? the Torque tube is avail from many vendors and the cold air box can be fabbed out of some nice 3/16 sheet, put some weather stripping on the top to seal against the hood and youre good to go.

Re: intake

yeah im debating fabbing up a box to see if it helps. 80* temp difference seems like a good bit. strokin what type of temp sensor/setup do you have?
