Why doesn't my pyro work?

It started out being an ISSPRO pyro that would act funky for a few minutes bouncing around and then eventually would just shut off.

Well I changed probes same problem, changed lead wires, same problem, changed gauge to autometer, same problem, changed ground, same problem and changed power to directly from the battery and now the gauge just doesn't even work now at all.

Re: Why doesn't my pyro work?

When you turn the ignition key to "on", does the needle jump up very quickly and then fall back down to rest?

i have isspro...there pyros suck. some times i have to flick the guage for it to work. Day one I had a bad amp box so they sent me another pyro guage and amplifier box. Now i have intermitent problem with the guage itself. especially at start up.....you have to flick it for it to start working.

Re: Why doesn't my pyro work?

Is the probe an AutoMeter or isspro??? could they not be compatiblewith eachother? Better yet just bring the rag down and we're re-wire the thing right.

On second thought We should have added that to the fall brawl weekend work load.

Run an continuity test through the 2 wires that run to the probe. If it fails there is an open somewhere.

Re: Why doesn't my pyro work?

If the needle jumps quickly when you first put the key "on" and then goes back to rest, there is a brake in the circuit.

I have the same issue, but mine has normally worked, but I have however blown the 5 amp fuse that is inline with all my gauges two times now. I went back and checked all my connections, resoldered the tips of the wires that going into amp box so the little screws would clamp down on the wires better. I'm still not sure if this will take care of it.

I'm just waiting to see if when the needle jumps, the fuse blows at the same time.

Re: Why doesn't my pyro work?

I talked to Diesel Manor for a while one day about my tranny temp gauge not working and how pissed I was. Then they asked me to check and see if the needle bounced up real quick when i turned the key on... and the needle did. So they said I undoubtedly have either a short in the system, broken wire, bad connection or the temp probe is internally damaged. So I crawled under my truck to find a bad connection with the wires and after soldering the connection up I was ready to go and the gauge worked great. I would assume a pyro should work the same.

Re: Why doesn't my pyro work?

I had an isspro pyro, isspro wires, isspro booster boxes, isspro gauges.

Now I have Autometer pyro, wires, new power and ground and an autometer gauge. wtf.

Where did you end up doing the soldering? I know that you are talking about the trans temp bouncing (which mind does not), just my EGT gauge bounces.

I actually have the weather pack connections which I put dielectric grease in so there should be no "connection" points going back to the amp box, just the wires that go right back to the box. I'm still kinda stump on this one and I think that this is ultimately the cause of my blown fuses, due to the inrush of current that is happening somewhere in the circuit and shows up when the needle bounces.
