Just replaced up pipe donuts, Yum.....

So I replaced the donuts on my up pipes yesterday.
The passenger side was blowing alot of soot and the drivers side was loose. Not as bad as I thought it would be.
I hope this helps out w/ my high EGTs.
I used the felpro SB chevy donuts instead of the stock donuts and covered them in anti seize. Then I tightened the piss out of them.

Is there any reason to tighten them again today? Will the donuts crush anymore, or am I good to go?

Also, is there a right way or wrong way to install the up pipes. I got them in place, and then put the lower bolts in to hold them. After that, I tightened down the donuts, then the lower bolts.

Does that sound right?

I'm going to dyno the truck tomorrow, so I wanted to fix the leaks first. I'm shooting for 400.

Thanks,

Sean

I tried going the cheap route and used the 350 gasser donuts, I can't get them to seal. Ordered the factory ford donuts yesterday.

Finger tight on all of the bolts and then line the pipe up. Then tighten them down to spec.

Did you use the cheap donuts or the expensive ones. The cheapos crush easily. The expensive ones will not crush.

I have a set of ford donuts, but I was told that the felpro donuts were better, so I went with them instead. If it turns out that the stock donuts are better, I'm going to be pissed. Changing the up pipes isn't as easy as doing an oil change

I also heard that you can mill .0030 (30 thousandths) off the upper collars and get the stock donuts to crush a bit more.

Has anybody used the brass donuts from Bean?
