Edge questions?

I have an 02 7.3 intake and soon 5" exhaust...i know most of you run dp tuner but i was thinking about a edge juice/attitude...i just wanted to get some opinions from some of you that have it on your truck or have ran it...my transmission is stock and thats another big question of how the tranny shifts with the edge and if the edges protection features help the tranny?? Thanks for the input

I am not planning on running it in the highest setting much my truck is a daily driver so probaly mostly the economy setting...

Re: Edge questions?

I had a J/A, wasted my money on it. Not a bad product, but DP was way better, better driveability, better peak power and it pulls better for less money with better customer service.

Edge is like Banks. Good product, over-priced but relativly safe but with little option for more power.

If you really want an Edge product get an EvoII with Jody's tuning on it.

Re: Edge questions?

We will also be stocking the regular Evo(gameboy style) this week. Jody can convert that to a custom unit as well. If you already have gauges, then this would be a great way to go.

Re: Edge questions?

80 will not hurt your tranny and 120 occasionally probably will not hurt it. i run 140 almost all of the time on a bone stock tranny and it hasnt gone yet does slip some but still runs.

If you really want to do it right. Get a custom tuned valve body (I recommend the one from John Wood because it's awesome!!! and I have tried others), get a better torque converter (you can find one for around the 600 range), get an inline filter (magnefyne), gauges to keep an eye on the temps, and IF you have cooling troubles install a 6.0/V10 cooler.

I have this setup at 380+ RWHP and my trans is still alive. Elmo had a similar setup with way more HP than that and it was holding.

The converter is the weak link, it dies, plugs up the cooler, trans overheats and gets polluted with floaties, cycle starts all over again and you don't even know what's happening.

02 was a good year but still had the weaker converter. Updated Ford unit is triple disk and that's what I'm running. Although I would get a 6.4 kit from John Wood if then was now

Note that he has an '02 truck with PMR. I personally would be very cautious with 120 and up programming. Talk to Jody about it. He understands the issues.

120+ programming with a stock HPOP really isn't going to do much more.

My 120 dynoed within 5HP of my on stock injectors and HPOP.

What for? On stock sticks you really can get no where near the danger limit of PMR's... 340 tops...
