Stacking on the 7.3

I was always under the impression that if you had a chip and programmer the pcm would read the chip and override the programmer. But I have started to read stuff at some other places of people stacking this chip and that chip, and I didn't think it worked like that. Am I on the right track or am I off. Any insight would be great. Thanks fellas.

Re: Stacking on the 7.3

When you attach any of the vendor's chips to the PCM board it substitutes it's own memory for that on the PCM board. So whatever information the programmer may have placed in memory on the PCM board, it's not being read from.

Now you can "stack" an ICP "chip" with a chip that goes onto the PCM board for extra ICP. But that's the extent of the "stacking" with the 7.3.

Unless you're talking about stacking the PCM with another seperate device that doesn't trick the PCM, but actually intercepts it's signals on the outbound side and then relays it's own. That would be another way to "stack".

Re: Stacking on the 7.3

I should add that some people also play with resistance values on the EOT sensor. But that is fire, and you shouldn't be playing with it. Period.
