scangauge and HPOP "check up" - please school me

So what can this gauge actually tell me about the hpop? I know it does duty cycle and icp. But what, exactly, is that telling me and what good is it? When would this come in handy? For example, if it is cranking but not starting, can these values tell me if the injectors are firing or if the hpop is working? Thanks.

if it cranks and doesn't fire, you should have at least 500 lbs of ICP, if it's lower, that's a problem. If your up to say 2700 ICP at WOT, and it tails off to say 1700,,,, then your HPOP is probably abit weak. Exactly what the duty cycle tells you in detail, I am not sure.

Duty cycle *could* tell you if the pump is getting weak, but still able to hold the commanded pressure. Lower duty cycle means better pump.

Well, not just the pump.
If you're having trouble maintaining pressure at high load & high RPM, and put a pump from another truck on that doesn't have any HPO trouble and the duty cycle stays high, like 20-30% more duty cycle than a comparable truck, there is probably a leak somewhere in the system.
Now you see why I said *could*.

Ahh, and the leak could be inside an injector if it is not 'external' and on the garage floor... 'da wife HATES oil stains on the drive or garage floor. I told her if that's the case we need to trade vehicles every year..
