Can't find the engine sr#

so I am not sure if I got lucky or not. The valve cover tag is MIA. The date on the door sticker is 9-00......I am trying to find out if I have pmr's for sure. I am too lazy to open up the inspection hole. Is it possible to get the engine # from the vin# somehow?

My forged motor will debut in the spring with the hybrids and other goodies. I may be able to tear a little a$$ before then though and get the tuning figured out.

Thanks

Fixed it for ya.

The serial # is on a nice machined surface down there, meaning it's prolly rusty in that area. You may as well pull the plug while you're down there, you can never be too sure of what you've got........

As soon as I get back from Nebraska I'll pull it and see. If they are forged I will drop the hybrids, 910's and prods in and let everyone know how it runs with the 70MM!

Re: Can't find the engine sr#

Got to the motel and was already filthy....After finding out that the inspection plug is NOT 3/8'' square (like I thought when I crawled under there) It is not 1/4'' either. WHAT SQUARE DRIVE IS BETWEEN 1/4'' and 3/8'' WTF!

Several people looked at me under the truck rolling around with a beer and a can of Gold Bond. I could not read the stamp on block, with the help of Gold Bond powder they showed up like a wh0re in church.

The number was 1468863, if Howard's numbers are right I'm in for some early fun before the other motor is finished.

"Strokinearly99"
Start of production thru 1425746 are Forged Rods
1425747 thru 1440712 are Powdered Rods
1446713 thru 1498318 are Forged Rods
1498319 thru final production run are all powdered

Thanks Howard for the information I pirated off the ORG. I will still verify if I can get the plug out at home. What tool is req'd?

Get a 5/16" faucet seat wrench, or (as Aljay said) a piece of 5/16 square stock and bend a 90* on one end (from Home Depot, Lowes, Ace...etc.)

Re: Can't find the engine sr#

Sorry about my rant, I just did not realize that sizes other than standard socket drives were used on plugs. I will get to it when I can. I got the hybrids on Friday
