Re: Air intake help

a lot of people have the 6637. Easy and well worth the money.

I personally run the 6637... But i know tons of people who use AFE and Airaid.

Re: Air intake help

Not really cold air but they outflow the oem. I have the AIS with the fender sleeve added. 2 sources of ambient air, snorkle & fender. And the best filter media there is. Mine is around 5 yrs old with the orig filter still.

Re: Air intake help

donaldson b085011 best filter you can put on the 7.3... don't wast the time and money on a fuggin cone filter or washable of any type... 4 inch long piece of 4" exhaust pipe and the donaldson filter and thats it. take out your old air box leave the round tube alone, put the piece of pipe in it and then put the donaldson on the pipe, done... once a year blow it out with the air gun from your air compressor...

Re: Air intake help

The stock air box is the problem. Going with a 6637 style setup or an aftermarket brand is an upgrade. We carry Airaid if you are interested in a professional style aftermarket intake.

PM or e-mail me for prices. You can also check it out on our website HERE.

Re: Air intake help

I have heard that blowing these filters out with your air compressor can damage the paper. I myself would not blow mine out.

And technically, the 6637 (Basically same thing as donaldson), is not considered a true 'cold air' intake.. Do some research on here. I cannot remember where, but there is a thread on here about testing it and comparing.

Re: Air intake help

I have a volant that I have yet to instal, and volant makes a Donaldson powercore replacement filter for it.. That's the same material that the AIS uses...

Re: Air intake help

I have a Banks Ram air that's in great shape that I'm about to sell. It flowed and filtered really well. Only reason I swapped to the AIS is because I tow often and wanted something a touch more quiet in the cab. PM me if interested.
