Stockish turbo options??

Ok I've tried to search and I really can't find what I'm looking for. I'm going to be going to a van turbo or one of the bigger exhaust housings with a WW2. I'm really trying to stay away from running a wastegate. Now with running that setup what kind of boost foolers do u guys recomind? Or do you guys recomind running with the red line unhooked and leave it at that? I'm guessing you still need to limit what the MAP sensor sees??

I have a new 1.15 housing for a truck turbo that I no longer need.

If only those who knew what they were talking about replied, this thread would still be on page one.

I listed in in the for sale forum. I think it is against the rules to post prices here.

I really like the way my stock 2000 turbo is now. I went with the mechanical wastage actuator from diesel site and their new ww2. My stock turbo screams now and I like the ability to control boost with the wastage. I have mine setup so it holds rock steady at 32psi. With the wastage cranked down I can hit 38 no problem.

Re: Stockish turbo options??

Consider the drive pressure on the WW2 is considerably lower, the stock ex. housing looks good for a tuned truck and even stg. 1 injectors. The 1.0 would be good as well and may even pull a little harder up top. I havent seen any numbers yet with the WW2 and 1.0 to confirm it, though a few have stated there 1.0 and 1.15 spooled way faster down low.

My turbo build works very well for what it is. No surge/low egts/spools fast

Re: Stockish turbo options??

See that's the thing I really want a 1.00 housing but I may just keep the stocker for now. What's the cheapest and easiest way to rig up a boost fooler on these trucks?

Re: Stockish turbo options??

10$ harbor freight preasure regulator i seen posted elsewhere, just cut the map line and install, and set till you no longer throw the overboost codes.

Just my opinion, but the
GTP38 and WW2 may now replace the 38R up to 400 hp. Will see, but with a better drive ratio, opinions on the stock frame might change down the road. I like the stockish turbo so far, hell its even rebuildable. Smoke a 38R and well, its expensive (some are better than others)
But now the 38R and WW2 are hammering on the door of 620 hp. Who would have ever thought that ?

Re: Stockish turbo options??

Yeah that's what I'm sayin. If I didn't have a dang PMR motor I'd get a 38r. But until I find a cheap set of rods or another motor I'm not to concerned with big horsepower right now.
