Is there a question?

Re: POP QUIZ! what to do with auto shifter after ZF-6 swap

There WAS a bit of cutting involved.... on the cable..... a bit of welding and grinding and drilling also came into play.
I still have the same column.

yes there is a question.... I'll share the answer soon.... You guys are gonna LOVE this..... or maybe laugh at me but I don't care. I LOVE IT!

Re: POP QUIZ! what to do with auto shifter after ZF-6 swap

I have a quick ? off topic. I always see guys say get manual column.

Do they mean actually replace the whole column? or just the black top cover piece? Im curious

Sorry for the derail. I am interested to see what you came up with.

00 f250 some stuff done always more to do.
Best advice I have seen on here "If you cant afford to build it right you certainly cant afford to build it twice"

Re: POP QUIZ! what to do with auto shifter after ZF-6 swap

well what "they" mean probably varies but you CAN just pull the lever and replace the plastic on top.

What I did was pull the plastic knob off of the steel lever and connect the cable inside my electric brake controller.
I welded up the column end of the knob to shape it so that it did not move forward and backward but only right to left.

I used a tiny cable stop to keep from over stroking and breaking stuff.... NOW when I pull the lever my trailer brakes apply proportionally to how far I pull it... they still also work automatically so all I have done is move the manual apply function from the controller to the column.

The trailer brakes will also now stay applied if I want until I push the lever back up... Functionality is just like a semi except electric instead of air.

I am currently shopping for a knob for the lever... the one pictured above is one of the candidates.
