Air intake

I've been lurking here for a while, my truck is an 01 f350 ccsb 6 speed.. I found out it has a reman engine.. I haven't had a chance to check for pmr's, but if it doesn't im planning to do a 38r, 238's and all of the supporting mods..

My question is would the ais be good enough? How much power would I be leaving on the table? It's not a big deal if its 10-20hp or something because my truck will see a lot of dust during the summer, so I want the best filtration, and if needbe I would sacrifice some hp.. With the fender sleeve.. I have no problem cutting it up

Re: Air intake

The question is how much boost are you going to run? The ais will pull the minder @ about 25 psi. But it's the best filtering one you can get.

Re: Air intake

Well I can get a volant intake locally for 100 bones, and they have a powercore replacement filter, so I think that that might be the best of both...

Thing is I emailed volant for a p/n on a replacement filter, and they said that they don't make one that fits, so does anyone know the dimensions on the volant intake filter? Length width, tube size ect? Basically ill just find one on their website that is of similar shape and make it work, and again I don't mind cutting anything to make it fit, lol

Re: Air intake

get the early 99 fender kit for the ais. the early 99 used to get air from the fender.
the hole is still in the fender on the later trucks just blocked by plastic. it will increase flow a bit .

tbolt do you run a helwig anti sway bar? just curious..

Re: Air intake

A Tymar will outflow the AIS by a lot but that said I have a AIS with a filter sleave as the Tymar and 38r was just stupid loud. With the AIS its quite as stock.

We only carry the BEST parts and never compromise just to get a sale.

Dealer for: Full Force, Tymar, BTS, Icon, Pure Performance, TW tunes, just to name a few.

Re: Air intake

I have the AIS with fender sleeve and 38r. It flows fine and doesn't pull the filterminder at 30+ lbs of boost. Don't use the filterminder that comes with the AIS. Use your stock filterminder. It does make the 38R nice and quiet. I will be installing my 200/30 sticks and chip today. Il let you know if it pulls the filterminder in after the injectors are in.
