Lowering Compression

For those that have lowerd comp. how low did you go or how low can you go and keep it streetable and start without either?

95 Ex. Cab Long Bed 4x4. Built.

01 Ex. Cab Long Bed Dually 4x4 6 Speed. Intake, Exhaust, Super Chips Tuned

i had the bowls machined out using Charles' method. He can explain better than I can, im sure he'll be around tomorrow and share the details.

Here's how it's done by changing the piston bowl. The center was re-shaped while maintaining swirl direction, the edge of the bowl was layed back to discourage cracking.

Final compression will be around 16:1

Ok thanks about how much was removed from the bowl area? We do the same on the pistons in the tractor but that is much lower comp. in that.

I would have to look at my paperwork, but I think it was 7cc increase.

what are you runnin for machine there Machinist? looks to be a Haas by the looks of it...

Im runnin a VF-3 and VM-6 here at work. Vaccum Form mold work...

mine look just like machinist's pistons. iirc mine are at 16:1 compression aswell.

1) HAAS VF-2 HSS
1) Hwacheon HP-200A CNC Lathe

Couple of EDM's and a whole bunch of manual machines.
