Particulate filter

Any one added an aftermarket DPF to their 7.3? I have a 2000 Excursion that we are planning on keeping for a long time and my wife doesn't like smoke. A 6.7 drop in is many years out so I am thinking about adding a DPF.

Any thoughts?

Re: Particulate filter

ummmm a stock 7.3 motor shouldnt smoke one bit. Secondly, i really don't mean this in a rude way, but putting a dpf filter on a 7.3 would be asinine. im pretty sure it would throw backpressure into dangerous levels too, especially once the dpf got enough soot built up. thirdly, it would have no way to regen, so would get clogged all the time

Re: Particulate filter

if your stock and getting black smoke, you have a boost leak or plugged air filter....or your just dumping too much fuel for one reason or another...

Early 99 7.3 F350 auto,TN T-4 mount with a s467 for air,H-11's stud's SRP 1.1 for oil all supplied by unlimited diesel..beehives, DI push rod's, new alliant 315/200 hybrids,Driven diesel fuel system with a fuel lab 41401. ...tuned by Gearhead..

Well i don't have a wife but a dpf on a 7.3 is pretty out there. If she don't like smoke then get her a soccer mom van.
