I got a 5" exhaust system now that was on when I bought the truck, but I'm wantin' to get stacks. What's good out there and dependable? Appreciate it.

Re: Any Recommendations On Stacks?

I went w/5" mitre cut stacks (I've got a few pictures in my sig), i went w/5" because I felt the bigger stacks start to look disproportional. I built my kit myself, went from the 3.5" DP to the existing 4" system, 4" through the bed (so i didn't have to cut as large of a hole, and could get the stacks closer to the bulk head), wye'd it in the bed and then stepped up to 5" at the stack w/a reducer. The whole kit w/stacks cost me about $300-350 to make. There is an exhaust shop down the road from my parents house where I was able to buy blems and save $$$ (www.chromedepot.com if you're interested). There are some good vendors out there selling ready made kits. I went w/standard aluminized pipe w/chrome stacks, it's been on for a little over 2 years now and the pipes are still in really good shape.

Re: Any Recommendations On Stacks?

I would recomend getting what you want for your truck but go to www.iowa80.com and but them. It is a huge truck stop out in Iowa and I know they have some of the cheapest prices on the stacks themselves. Or try going to 4statetrucks.com and see what there prices are there its the chrome shop mafia guys from trick my truck. They are reasonable with there prices also.

I've got a 5" mitre cut Grand Rock kit, that I'm quite happy with, if you didn't want to build it yourself. I found it on eBay for $400 sometime last year. I've got a gallery in my webshots with some pictures - click on the "Pictures of my truck and mods" link in my sig.

Re: Any Recommendations On Stacks?

I got my 7's from chrome depot like brad said. I saved quite a bit, I made my own T-pipe setup. The total price for 7" mitre's and the 5" setup inside the bed was around 480$.

Re: Any Recommendations On Stacks?

For most trucks you can't go wrong with 5" miters. I've seen John's truck & 7" Miters looks perfect.

Re: Any Recommendations On Stacks?

it really depends on what you want your truck to look like. i know everyone has one but my opinion is that 7's plus are to big and doesn't really help when i comes to power...the smoke just kind of falls out and rolls over the bed, unless your truck is pretty hot. i said 6's yesterday but its kinda like the same thing, with 5's the smoke has velocity when it comes out. if your going for lower egt's and to reduce the bends in the exhaust just put a single on it. we put a single 6 on mine the other day and its pretty sweet, loud but the smoke rolls out like a tornado. so its pretty much up to you, are you building a powerstroke or a peterbuilt?
