"Fuel Only"

I dont see a general diesel discussion forum, so im putting this here where i normally post.

When you do a dyno run, sled pull, drag race etc, and you do not use any power adders, such as propane (rare i know) methanol/water, or nitrous (majority), it's called a "fuel only" run. Since we all know Nitrous is not a fuel, it is merely a gas that has an abundance of oxygen to help burn the fuel that would still be injected as normal... There is still a turbo there on a "fuel only" run, and that's the only thing thats forcing oxygen into the engine to burn the fuel. So, shouldnt it therefore be called a "Turbo only" run?

Re: "Fuel Only"

Since the engine came factory equipped as a turbocharged engine burning diesel fuel, I don't see it as an additional way to make power.

The biggest thing is injections. Aka, drugs. "Fuel only" means that the only thing your using other than normal atmosphere is diesel fuel to make the power. When you use concentrations of nitrogen and oxygen and inject them, you have strayed from that. When you introduce propane, you have strayed. When you introduce methanol same deal.

Fuel only means diesel fuel and the air we breath and that's it. It doesn't matter how much you compress that air.

Re: "Fuel Only"

Thanks Chuck you always have a way of dumbing it down so even people out in the boonies of MD can understand it. Thanks.
