Got the DP Tuner, BUT...

Well I install it, and turn the key and was going to check the positions. Should be 1-6. It only went up to 3, like my old chip Then it wouldn't start.

I have a peice of paper on how to reprogram the switch and I probably need to do that, but still it didn't start.

I'm at work right now and I will uninstall the chip and reinstall it again but I did it just like I have several other DP Tuner F5's.

I know Jody and Diane aren't going to answer so I'm wondering if anyone at this time of night has had ths same problem???

I guess I just need to re-do it. I installed it from the time I popped the hood till the time I was done in 15 minutes in the dark....

Re: Got the DP Tuner, BUT...

Would not start in any setting? Is the WTS light staying on??? Weird?

I do have an issue with my chip freakin out every now and then, will not start and a stuck WTS and SES light... Sometimes I end up removing the chip.

Re: Got the DP Tuner, BUT...

WTS came up and went out as normal. The SES light was on, but it does that sometimes too and then goes out after it fires with the rest of the lights.

Awe well... before I do anything else I'm just going to uninstall it all the way down and redo it.

The rectangle one, not the 2 1/16" gauge one.

Re: Got the DP Tuner, BUT...

When you turn the key to the on(not start) position, does the WTS light stay on for 5+ seconds or does it go out right away and the SES light stays on? Also, can you hear your fuel pump come on and stay on for at least 10 seconds(I think it will actually stay on for 20sec)?

Reason I ask is I have the same problem every now and then... and when the above symptoms occur, my truck won't start... just cranks and cranks... Most likely because the truck doesn't have fuel pressure. It's intermittent and I can't seem to figure out why it has the problem... If I cycle the key on and off, it has eventually corrected itself and I've always eventually been able to start the truck. I spoke with Jody about it and he seems to think the chip is not seeing a proper voltage signal required before it will allow the truck to start... Don't quote me on that though... ha ha... Hope that helps some.

Re: Got the DP Tuner, BUT...

Fuel pressure is fine... both pumps are working.

As for the WTS light going right out I really didn't pay attention since I was in a hurry to get back upstairs to work.

I'll just pop the chip out and retry. The truck does NOT have a problem...

Re: Got the DP Tuner, BUT...

I guess what I'm getting at is.... Does that reprogram have to be done before the truck will start?

Re: Got the DP Tuner, BUT...

Mine started before the re-program... maybe Jody sent you a whole bunch of "no start" files
