Re: Rocker arm installation?

i dont recall if they are or not, but if they are not adjustable rockers then it really doesnt matter where the motor is. but if your not used to doing it, then do each cyl at tdc so your not fighting the spring pressure.

CCLB with some stuff done .....

Re: Rocker arm installation?

Set the groove on the dampener at 11 o'clock. That is what I have been told. I think in this position all of the valves are closed or as close to closed as possible.

Re: Rocker arm installation?

Since the piston was TDC when installing the springs I'd say have the piston at BDC since it's like installing pushrods since the rocker arms aren't pushing down on them.

HUH?

TDC on compression both valves will be closed...meaning no spring pressuer

Re: Rocker arm installation?

I guess I wasn't clear enough.

Since the springs are already installed you don't have an issue w/ dropping a valve so the piston doesn't need to be @ TDC.

IIRC when installing pushrods the piston is supposed to be @ BDC. I figured since the rocker arms need to be reinstalled it would be the same as installing a pushrod.

IIRC once again I believe this is how the repair manual describes how to reinstall a rocker arm.

I think it had something to do with the lifters, but it's been some time since I did this stuff so I could be getting things bass ackwards.
