exhaust leak?

i've got some soot inbetween the 2housings on my turbo, and noticed my EGTs are a little higher than usual, could this be the V band clamp since I just changed my turbo not to long ago?

Re: exhaust leak?

Where is the soot?? around the V clamp at the up pipes at the back of the turbo??? Or is it between the center cartridge and the exhaust housing???

Re: exhaust leak?

You should get a telescoping mirror and look behind the turbo at the y-pipe and housing interface, while you're at it look below the y-pipe at the donuts. If you have ever removed your turbo you may have pushed the y-pipe back and worked the donut seal(s) loose.

The housing fits pretty tight on the center section. If it is leaking there then all four of you housing bolts have to be loose. You would probably notice very poor performance at that time as well as the higher EGT's you are seeing.
