Torque Converter Lockup Switch and LED

Which wire is it that is grounded to lockup the torque converter? I've followed the main group of wires from the transmission over by the fuel pump and I exposed the bundle of wires.

Your welcome Mikey, but the thanks should actually go to Chris Muncy as he is the one that put all that stuff up on the website.
I sure do miss that guy.

Re: Torque Converter Lockup Switch and LED

Thats a good write up on it. I'm curious though how the LED functions. Does it just light up when the torque converter is fully locked? I followed the instructions and when I turn my key on the LED light goes on and only turns off when I turn my key off. I tapped into the Purple with yellow wire. Its one of the smaller gauge wires.....? Do I have the wrong wire?

Re: Torque Converter Lockup Switch and LED

If you have it wired correctly it should only come on when the TC is commanded to lock.

Re: Torque Converter Lockup Switch and LED

I'll go double check things. I've got a wire tied into the purple/yellow that goes to my black wire on the LED and the red wire on the LED to 12V power. I haven't put the switch on yet. I'll have to trace from the 12 pin conncector.

Re: Torque Converter Lockup Switch and LED

Put the truck in drive then hold the brake and flip the switch, if it bucks and dies you have it wired correctly.

Re: Torque Converter Lockup Switch and LED

My truck has three purple wires with yellow traces. I tried each one seperately to see if I could stall the motor but none wanted to kill the motor. I put it in drive and grounded it out. I found that with one wires the LED is off until I ground that purple/yellow and the LED lights up. But it won't do anything beyond that. I tried the blue/orange wire with no luck. I remember there was one blue with yellow tracer wire I didn't try. Who knows maybe I'm just color blind.
