Intercooler question

Does anyone know the average pressure drop accross a stock SD intercooler? It has aluminum ends if it matters. Probably doesnt since it is the same core. Thanks

Re: Intercooler question

you could proabably stand to use an intercooler at the point your at. Stock one is probably giving you some restriction. Not sure exactly how much.

Re: Intercooler question

Sorry. It's just that the pressure drop is because of flow restriction. Move more air, more restriction, more drop.

Don't move much air, don't have much drop (if even measurable).

Re: Intercooler question

So for the most part anytime there is a measurable drop you should upgrade your intercooler?

Re: Intercooler question

In the same sense that anytime there is a measurable increase in EGT you should upgrade your turbocharger.

It's efficiency. You have to decide what is acceptable for you and your wallet.

Re: Intercooler question

Sounds good, just wanted to confirm what i have been thinking for a while.

Does anyone know what the drop between the 7.3 to the 6.0 is?
Just curious.

To be honest, the 6.0 IC was a waste of time... The only thing good is now if I ever upgrade it more I can just drop in a 6.0 Sperco and be done.
