Air Intakes

I was just wondering what the majority of you all with 7.3's run air intake wise. When I initially bought the truck I wanted to pour more money into the exhaust and tuning so I was a cheap Jew and only opted to buy Airaid's "Quick Fit" intake system.

I have been contemplating upgrading my intake to something a little higher end but I find myself asking if it's really worth the extra money. I've been looking at AFE's Stage II Proguard and the Ingen/AMSOIL intake system. I already did the Zoodad mod as well. The main thing is I want more performance if possible and still have a reusable filter. Thanks in advance.

Re: Air Intakes

The AFe stage 2 is a great setup, i absolutely love mine. You sure can hear your turbo sing. Kinda pricey, but i did see one on Ebay for about $380, which is an outstanding price. If you want to go a little less expensive, try Airflo's new intake, very similar to a DIY, but alittle more expensive and very professional looking. i think it runs about $189

Re: Air Intakes

The 3 most popular intakes, in no particular order:

AIS - A factory stock replacement, larger and better filter, gets restrictive on higher HP applications. If you want outstanding filtration, this is a great setup.

Tymar or DIY - Cheapest option, flows a ton of air and still filters very well. You hear every little turbo and engine noise, so if you don't like the noise, it can get annoying.

AFE Stage II - The most expensive option. Flows great, and adds some bling under the hood. It's a tad quieter than the Tymar or DIY.

DIY Tymay can be made for about $50 & will handle all the power you'll ever make.
