Bypass transmission cooler

I am thinking of getting a bypass filter for my transmission. Anyone have one and are they worth it?

I already have the bypass coolant system

It came with the truck. Look under the truck in front of the engine on the framerail on the passenger side.

Re: Bypass transmission cooler

there is a thermostat in the transmission. When the temps go over 170 it starts to open the fluid flow to the cooler.

Does the sterring system have a cooler? It looks like it but it is hard to see.

Re: Bypass transmission cooler

The auto trans external filter is small cannister style. Follow the lines under the radiator. Like its stated, its located behind the radiator outside the passenger side frame rail.

The ps cooler is a small vane tube cooler that is located on the driver's side down low in the flowing air behind the front bumper. IIRC, its a single loop cooler.

Re: Bypass transmission cooler

why does the trans lines go into the radiator? It looks like it is after the thermostat. If the trans lines are going into the eng radiator for warm up then shouldn't it be before the thermostat?

Every radiator I have ever seen has trans lines going to it.....I assume its for cooling not warming

Cools it down since the coolant can pull alot of heat out of it. Then it leaves there and goes through the auxillary cooler and back to the transmission.
