How many have rolled the dice with studs?

Meaning....on a non puking truck with gaskets still intact.....who has had success with installing studs only without removing the heads. How long have you gone with just studs and a moderate tune.

Truck will have EGR crap gone, new oil cooler, and coolant filter as well.

honestly thinking...worst case is I will already have the studs if something happens.

Re: How many have rolled the dice with studs?

My truck has been tuned, "X Street" daily driver and "Heavy Tow" when pulling my 13K+ toyhauler, for over 2 years now and I have the original bolts and gaskets. I believe that a combination of a coolant filter early on and using it like a TRUCK has made a huge difference. Either that or it was built on a Wedneday, not sure..

Ya....that's another thing. I dont take the risks I used to on the highway. I'm over driving like an idiot everywhere I go.

Re: How many have rolled the dice with studs?

80k running a race tune 24/7 on my truck. No studs. No issues. Hell mine generally tows in one of the race tunes too

Deleted the EGR 2 weeks ago.

Dan's right. Coolant filters and synthetic oils go a long way on a 6.0

I would (and did) just buy the studs and keep em in the garage. Drive it until you need the studs. That's if you ever do!

I'd say go for it.... One at a time and tighten them down good. Worse case, they don't hold...

Isn't that how Danny's were done the first time?

Chalk up another one for the coolant filter. It is encouraging to see your guys running these tunes on stock HG and bolts, and having success with them. My truck was built on a monday though, Im sure of it.

Re: How many have rolled the dice with studs?

I would not do the studs until its starts puking, you will never be able to torque them down the way the engine comes from the factory and once that seal is broken you better hope the studs hold.

DON'T FIX WHAT IS NOT BROKEN!!! Just keep the studs WHEN not IF but WHEN you break it... haha
