Chromoly Pushrods...

So I was playing around in the solid model land. Needed some pushrods for a 6.4L motor to go along with some valve springs. The new springs have an extra 50lbs of seat pressure. And the motor had already seen some valve float as it had valve impressions in a few of the pistons.

So you start with a solid model...

The stock pushrod is made with a center tube .344 inches in diameter with a .060 wall thickness and has 3/8 ends welded to the end. The stock tube is rolled and has a seam down the side.

Stepped them up to .375 diameter with 3/8 ends. The centers are 4130 DOM Chromoly Steel with a .083 wall thickness. The ends are press fit and are precision ground and hardend. Here they are side by side. Stock length on these. I had cut the stock pushrod in half to measure the wall thickness.

Here is what the ends look like. These are good for over 700 lbs of open spring pressure. Which is more than 3 times the pressure of the stock spring.

Machined some shims and used some beehive springs...

They love to be run near coil bind. Unfortunately we need alot more lift before we would ever do that to these.
