SCT or EGDE

My brother 05 just got out of the shop for the headgaskets. Now has ARPs and Liberator EGR delete. He had an Edge w attitude monitor. He pulled it out when it went back in for warranty. He also Bought a SCT to give the trans some tuning but that has not been installed yet.
My question is.. Should he keep using the Edge for the engine, as gauges and switch on the flyability and use the SCT for just the trans or ditch the edge for tunes and keep it for the gauges and leave the tuning in the SCTs hands. He really likes the ability to change on the fly but if the edge is that unsafe well....

Just need some pointers in the right direction

Looking for Blue 40-20-40 seat for OBS. PM me if any known

Go with the sct. get an dd that he likes and towing tune. No need to shift on the fly. I run eric extreme street as my dd and its amazing! shifts are super smooth and has tons of power. When I gotta tow throw it on tow tune. Get some guages to monitor it and you'll be set.

Re: SCT or EGDE

Ok. Now. He bought the SCT from DPtuner. for just doing trans tunes.Need to email Jody the trans code numbers for a tune. It is a X3. Can that be programed for the engine as well. Please forgive the stupid questions, i have no experiance with a programer. And how long does it take to change out a DD file for a tow or race file? How many files can be put on the programer?

I use Eric from Innovative's tunes too. I would also just leave the all of the tuning to the SCT. It's gonna put down more power and safer, since it's a custom tune. You couldn't pay me enough money to run an edge on my truck.

If it's an earlier truck 03/04 (I think 04 might have been split!?) it will take about 5 minutes to change tunes, 05+ is less than 2 minutes to change.

I basically run a hot tune every day unless I hook up to the camper, so it's the only time I need to change tunes. You'll find most guys are running the extreme tunes as DD's, since they will offer the best fuel mileage anyways.

Black smoke don't mean it's broke... it means your tuning sucks!

Re: SCT or EGDE

Mdub707 hit the nail on the head! Unless ur towing everyday you can run the extreme tunes. Just monitor egts if you drive it hard. Keep your foot outta the pedal and you will see great mileage imo.
