PWR steering and PWR brake issues

I am new to Ford and the 2005 6.0L. 87k miles Owned it 4 weeks almost. Already did the new oil cooler and egr cooler. Now having issues with the pwr steering and pwr brakes intermittently losing power for no apparent reason while driving. Also noticed a slight catch feeling in the brake pedal when first applied.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Thanks

Re: PWR steering and PWR brake issues

You need to replace your hydroboost unit most likely if you haven't checked your fluids already. I think a new unit is about $600 from ford.

S&B Intake
MBRP exhaust
Powermax
TSD tunes

Re: PWR steering and PWR brake issues

The truck got a new pump right before I bought it and the fluid is full so it seems it might be the hydro boost unit....OUCH. This thing is expensive.

My truck ad the same problem. Make sure you flush the system well while you have it apart

Re: PWR steering and PWR brake issues

How long will the current hydro boost pump last? Is it something that progressively gets worse that I can drive with for a while or is it something that just one day quits all together?

Thanks for the help
