Installing Airdog tommorow

As in the title im gonna drop my tank and install tommorow. Have the unit mounted to the frame, now from there..

is there a specific name for the fuel line tool needed to disconnected the high pressure line? I can get it at autozone or other parts store right?

im installing a hellmann sump, what did you guys use to cap off the oem pickup, and do I need to remove the oem sending unit before cutting into tank or at all??

thanks for your help!

Re: Installing Airdog tommorow

good post! just in time as i am doing the exact same thing. except i made my own sump. not saying the hellman isnt nice, but i made this one for free. what are you supplying the pump with? the blue line it came with? i was going to run 1/2" stainless hard line but am re-thinking and will probably go with 1/2" stainless braided line. are you going to build your tank skid plate around the sump?

Heres some advice, for the rubber hose and trying to fit them on, use HOT water so the hose expands, its hell if you dont.

I wish I would have thought of that.

I would also harpoon the tank while you have it down. The extra 7 gallons of fuel is very nice.

Re: Installing Airdog tommorow

Sorry for ignorance or being a rookie but what do you mean by harpoon the tank? I thought the sump would take care of that? Or is it an additional 7 gallons of fuel

Re: Installing Airdog tommorow

You cut the vent tube in the tank shorter. It allows more fuel to be put in the tank before the nozzle stops.

Re: Installing Airdog tommorow

I dropped the tank when I did mine, and it was a pain, It looked way easier to lift the bed. And be careful with your guage in the tank its fragile. Trust me I broke mine
