Hey guys/gals need some advice.
I have a 2003 Excursion EB 6.0 with 59k miles on it! I thought I would go ahead and address all the fun issues the 6.0 can develop. None of which mine had, EGR
was clear, cut oil cooler open and it looked brand new, water pump was solid, etc…
First off i added the Bullet Proof Diesel remote oil filter kit and EGR
Delete. I got to looking at intakes and ODAWG sales one; which im sure most of you are familiar with. Now it doesn’t have the water passage in the intake for the EGR
. I was reading that you plug up the water outlet to the intake with a freeze plug. Well when I tried to find the kit that takes care of the other end, I got the ‘Oops site cannot be found.’
Im still curious; what is the point of running fluid through the intake then EGR delete
tubing for the water pump. How come I cant just plug up both ends and be done, since I dont have the factory oil cooler. I saw something about keeping OEM flow rate? So maybe there is a reason? Does the fluid have to flow through or it will cause back pressure in the water pump? Someone said to tie it into the Degas bottle.
I don’t think I can justify 800$ for this intake BUT if I can remove a possible leak and heck maybe even grind it off my intake why not. So guys/gals, do any of you have any information on this? I tried to search and found some answers but not WHY’s. Why do I need to do this? Instead of, ‘Well thought it had to go somewhere.’
Im sure I may have missed a fantastic thread that is already hitting this topic… We all do it. So if I did I apologize; just kick me out of the group!
Also I still have the truck torn apart and ive done:
Headstuds – One at a time
Took apart all injectors for inspection
BPD air-to-oil cooler w/ external oil filter
BPD water pump
Sinister Regulated Fuel Return
’08 Trans Pan
And I feel like theres more for what I bought/spent
So if you have any question about what im doing to make yours easier, PLEASE ASK. I tried to find ways to do things better and ways to remove things easier lol.
