Pushing coolant?

Maybe a stupid question, what causes coolant to be forced out the degas bottle? I mean technically what happens to cause that?

Re: Pushing coolant?

compression leaked into the cooling system, pressure rises above blowoff pressure on the cap and POOF it pukes

Re: Pushing coolant?

So does that mean head gaskets are the problem, or does it damage the gaskets? I guess what are the consequences of it doing that?

Got studs put in, new updated EGR, and oil cooler, and got new tunes and got a little bit of puking so I wonder if I flash boiled the coolant in the EGR

Re: Pushing coolant?

Yeah, magnafluxed and resurfaced with no cracks, and I wasn't running it too hard, but the bottle may have been a little full... I didn't look at it since the work was done.

Re: Pushing coolant?

I broke it in for about 500 miles before I put on a tune, and it was pretty mild and I didn't really get on it. I got back home, and opened the hood, and saw a little coolant here and there around the bottle so I was curious about what could cause it and worried about damaging the work I just had done....

Re: Pushing coolant?

Most of what I have read from modded 6.0 owners, they say let it blow out and most of them "settle" somewhere.

Black smoke don't mean it's broke... it means your tuning sucks!

Re: Pushing coolant?

So it should just settle, and I'm hoping it's not a sign I damaged anything.... Is there a way I can verify that I didn't screw up my HG's or am I being paranoid? I mean is it likely that I blew them, and how would I tell. I never did before I put studs in, so it's new to me
