Just got finished with this project which was pretty time consuming. I have a few observations and questions.
1-The intake manifold is pretty damn hard to get all of the soot and oil build
2-The oil cooler rebuild os not difficult to do.
3-I reconditioned the turbo and it was pretty sooty and had some rust build
and the the lever inside was almost frozen inplace, so I am glad I decided
4-Hardest part was the fricken uppipes.
5-Why in the hell didnt International put some dowel pins so that
the intake gaskets would nest on the heads nice and easy.
6-Double check the ficm
is plugged in all the way mine idled like crap
and 2 of the plugs were not seated a 3 foot screw driver worked
to gently plug the rest of the way in.
7-The turbo seems to build boost much faster.
