Newer package, same overall result. Make sure your strategy matches the tunes.

Re: x2 and x3

The x3 is just an x2 wrapped in a new package. I don't recall any real differences in the products.

Your strategy is the particular software load that was used to make the PCM/FICM/TCM all work together properly. Using a strategy that's not correct can be bad. Not all truck strategy programming will work on every other 6.0L.
(i.e You wouldn't load Windows Office straight to a Mac computer)

Re: x2 and x3

Have the Xcal 2 set back to stock and unlocked. That way when you get it you can plug it in and look at your strategy for your PCM and Trans. Then contact someone like Eric at Innovative or Doug at GoGo and have them write tunes for you.

The x-cal 3 has more memory, and has a larger screen. You wont notice any difference on a 6.0. I believe you can use an x-3 on a 6.4 and you can NOT use the x-2

Black smoke don't mean it's broke... it means your tuning sucks!

Re: x2 and x3

I just bought an X2 from a friend of mine. I don't know if its stock or unlocked or any of that. How would I find out? According to him, He said I should just be able to plug it in and find strategy and then buy tunes, so, would that mean that he cleared his tunes off of it? Because he said it didn't have any tunes. I haven't hooked it up so I don't know. I'm a little gun shy of hooking it up now. He says it has no tunes so it "should be unlocked". I honestly have no idea. Never used one before.

Re: x2 and x3

Unlocked basically means the truck was put back to stock before he sold you the SCT.

Each SCT vin-locks to the truck (to prevent guys from buying one tuner and tuning 20 trucks with it).

Plug it in to your truck, and go to vehicle info, get strategy. Read that strategy and write it down. Now pick a tuner of your choice (I use Innovative diesel, but there are other good ones) and email them or call them and get a tune, they will need your strategy to write the tune.
