upgrading to s369sxe

Im looking to install a larger charger in my 2005, the shop i was talking to said that if i wanted to put out more boost i would have to install an ats fire ring kit along with 3k worth of cylinder head work to apparently keep from damaging my engine though i have bran new oem gaskets and arp studs. I would just like a second opinion as to what route i should take thanks.

Truck has new built motor and trans with 6k on them ( 140K on body)
bored.20 over stock
New oem gaskets, oem injector o rings
egr delete
Arp studs
Injectors are 190/100% from industrial injection
S363 fmw
Aeromotive A1000 fuel system with beans diesel sump
Oil cooler delete - air to oil cooler setup
Transmission is a stage 5 From Warren Diesel
5 inch straight from mbrp
Afe stage 2 intake
Sct has custom tunes from gearhead- tow race street dyno

i would like to upgrade from the 63/68/.88 s363 open
to the 69/73/.91 s369sxe twin scroll which i hear moves quite a bit of air.

I can't tell you for sure, but it sounds like they are trying to rip you off. True, fire rings will help keep from blowing your hg again, but it's not necessary.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Re: upgrading to s369sxe

Thats along the lines of what i was thinking. Ive done bussiness with these guys in the past and they were always on the expensive side, i was thinking i should get some prices on o- ringing the heads if anything but i still cant see myself dropping the money if its not necessary i would still like to daily the truck if i had to.

Re: upgrading to s369sxe

There are guys running bigger turbos than the 69 you are considering without fire rings with no issues. I think where you'd see issues is if the stud job you currently have wasn't done correctly. Meaning, heads not machined correctly or enough, deck not cleaned properly, improperly torqued studs. You get what in saying. Yeah fire rings are good insurance, but for a truck you plan do DD I don't see you building enough boost to make those a necessity. Don't recall if you had aftermarket intercooler or not, but if you are still on the stock one it would blow long before you built enough boost to lift the heads again if they were done right.

I'm also curious how you like the 363. I've tossed that idea around for a while now, but I'm on much smaller injectors.
