68mm RCD powermax turbo

I picked this 68mm rivercity diesel powermax turbo up for a good price along with my other parts and im curious what people think about these turbos. Ill be running warren 190/100 injectors and high rev cam and valve springs. If anyone has any ideas on what hp/tq I can expect that would be helpful too.

-2006 block, 68mm RCD powermax, cryo frozen pistons crank block and rods, fire ringed heads, RCD high rev cam and valve springs, larger valves, upgraded pushrods, 190/100 warren injectors, A1 technologies headstuds, sinister EGR delete, 4" MBRP turbo back, airaid stage 2 intake, and more to come (in process of building).

Re: 68mm RCD powermax turbo

Probably going to be laggy and run out of air up top, the compressor wheel is way to big for the stock turbine wheel

190/100 warrens and a 68 should be in and around 600 to the rears. thats about all a stock fuel system can supply

Re: 68mm RCD powermax turbo

I doubt his stock system is even going to supply those in the first place. 190/100 is a lot of fuel. I'm guessing wot runs will see a huge FP drop.

Anyways, about the 68....better options out there now than a powermax. Really good, tuning might help that powermax, but don't expect it to be ideal.

Looking at your sig...you have big $$ in that thing already...why cheap out on a turbo? I know you said you got a deal on it, but still...

Re: 68mm RCD powermax turbo

If you got a deal on it I would say you could sell it rather easy, then get yourself a barder stage 3 or 4 and be a whole lot happier. As said above there are a lot better options out there than that.

Re: 68mm RCD powermax turbo

So not a lot of fans of the river city turbo Huh? And it's a 68/71 just forgot to say. And I don't plan on running a stock fuel system. I want to run an aeromotive or fuel lab but I'm not sure which yet I already know my stock fuel system won't feed 190s especially with 100% nozzles. The only reason I decided to go with this turbo is cause it was on the motor I bought and since I was getting the motor I was getting the turbo as a package deal. A little bummed to see that not very good points of view on this turbo? It was $2100 from river city. And don't worry haha if I didn't want critics I wouldn't post on a forum. Haha it's good to have opinions

Re: 68mm RCD powermax turbo

I don't know the exact specs on RCDs 68..... my Barder stage 3 is a beast. 190/100s clean up to a light haze under WOT... and yeah.... like was mentioned before.... fuel system!!! No way would I even think about it without something keeping pressure on par... good luck with your build man.

Re: 68mm RCD powermax turbo

I think you are taking our comments wrong. Rcd makes damn good stuff for these 6.0s. Not a lot of people are fans of the power max turbo. We are just trying to help ya out and letting you there are better options out there turbo wise then a powermax and cheaper options.

Re: 68mm RCD powermax turbo

Powermax was once the shiz... But that was before the likes of Barder and KC. I've heard lots of people say they have issues with EGT's with a powermax.
