AFE Stage 2 with the Pro-GUARD 7?

Seeking input from owners of the AFE Stage 2 with the Pro-GUARD 6 or 7 in their 6.0L Powerstroke.

I currently have the SCT tuner, and a custom tune designed for Street use. My exhaust is a straight 4" Turbo-Back.

My main goal is better fuel economy. More is always great for towing my heavy boat.

Is the AFE Stage 2 with the Pro-GUARD 6 or 7 worth the money? I've read a few posts that claim the stock air intake and filter are perfectly fine up to 500HP. Is this accurate, if so, won't adding the AFE be overkill and probably a waste of money?

What do you guys recommend? My truck is a 2005 F-350 Dually. I get 10mpg going down hill with a strong tail wind

I put this intake on my truck back when i only had a tuner and exhaust, it's not worth the money. The only difference I could tell was my turbo farts got louder. I have no idea why your only seeing 10 mpg unless you have a big gear. If anything put an egr delete on it, that will help with the reliability of the truck.

Dude, that's a scary profile pic. You must like them big and bouncy.

I plan to do the EGR delete down the road, but for now I have a bumper to bumper warranty. I suspect the EGR delete could void it.

Yea if you are only getting 10mpg something is wrong. I'm getting 16-18 unloaded in my 05 DRW, but I'm 2wd. I could see 4wd dropping that number, but you should still be somewhere around 14-15 at least.

Just stick with a stock filter setup. Mine has an Airaid kit on it...on there when I bought it....just hear the turbo a little more. Stock it plenty for most people.

Recently sold my Cap, and my mileage climbed to 13.5 I've since added a tuner and turbo back exhaust. Hoping that it climbs a little more.
