4r100

im looking in to doing a 4r swap in my 05. truck is going under this winter and getting a s475 and spray. truck is 2wd. so my understanding is i will need a 2wd 4r100 out of a 5.4 or a v10..? with all the diesel internals though. correct me if im wrong.. next question is where can i buy one? obviously dont wanna go spend a ton of money on a trans that im going to rebuild anyways.. can someone give me a parts list of everything i need to swap it over.. and where i can get the stand alonce computer

Re: 4r100

BTS and John woods make amazing 4r's, it's probably just best to give them a call and tell them your build and see what they say. I also know Andy Warren makes a 4r but haven't heard any reviews yet.

Re: 4r100

between buying the 4r, putting good parts in it (billet input, billet forward drum, red alto clutch kit, shift kit or BTS valve body) and a stand alone controller, you'll probably be into it more than twice what a built 5r will cost you.

Re: 4r100

nevermind buying all the diesel internals from a 4r if he is buying a v10 trans.

Not cost effective at all IMO.

Re: 4r100

Why not just use a but 5R? Some damn good companies out there building very stout 5R's. Don't see why one wouldn't hold up...guys making big power still run them.

Re: 4r100

If your going to drag race it go with the 4r otherwise a good 5r will do just fine. the 5r will hold big power but upshifts are touchy if not programmed perfect it will burn up

Re: 4r100

well i am going to be dragging it, thats why i am thinking about it. just because i bought the trans, it dosnt mean its set in stone. my 5r is blown as of right now anyways so either way i will be needing a trans. i would like to figure out all the parts i will need to complete the 4r swap.. i dont know is i need different fly wheel, or what torque converter i need to run..

my understanding is i need a 4r and a stand alone controller and thats it. untill i am told different
