Suggested upgrades for towing

What would you suggest be upgraded for towing 8k+ trailer.

Truck has juice programmer from 05' otherwise it's a stock truck.

I'm going to be installing firestone air bags but don't know if I need the compressor or not. If possible add at a later time?

Love to hear your thoughts!

Re: Suggested upgrades for towing

First get rid of the juice and get an SCT programer. Your tranny will thank you.
Next get some gauges to keep an eye on things.
Your truck will not even know you have 8k behind you.

Re: Suggested upgrades for towing

Depending on trailer tongue weight I think the truck will handle it fine. I have towed 8K-10K with both of mines no issues. I don't think you will need airbags unless the tongue weight if really high but that also depends on your suspension is it a F250 or 350?
Like one said earlier your tune might be something you want to check. I have heard that canned tunes can burn out trans. I would use only stock or custom tune.

It's a 250 and sags more than I like. Have Bilstein shocks and stabilizers as well.

I forgot to mentioned that I have Magniflow exhaust, S&B intake, BPD oil cooler and BPD EGR cooler.

What other guages should I get and monitor?

EGT's, fuel psi, water temp.
I also have turbo psi, volts, tranny temp, oil temp, FICM volts.
A Edge CS or CTS is a good option.
I just like the old school gauges.
