got beat by a duramax

that really pissed me off so im looking for advice on what to do to be able to beat him or at least keep up. his is an 06 or 07 with the efi live tune and 5" exhaust, stock height with 32" tires. im running a 4" lift with 35s. i know my trucks bigger and longer so im sure its heavier too. the first thing i thought about was getting the looney tune? heard all good things about it. i just have the canned sct on performance now. any thoughts welcome

Re: got beat by a duramax

Hate to say it but those LBZ motors are pretty stout, common rails in general are a whole other animal when it comes to being able to add just a tune and have alot of power....your gonna need either a bigger turbo or bigger inejctors, a tune isn't gonna help much. Start getting out the wallet lol

Re: got beat by a duramax

A HEUI system is at a big disadvantage when it comes to that, I personally think common rails come from the factory basically "detuned".... Put a tune on it and its crazy how much hp they make with a tune only, that's why alot of guys run 6.4s now, don't get me wrong a 6.0 runs good with just a tune but its not gonna come close to a common rail.

My buddy added an edge tuner stacked with another tuner and got 800hp just from the stacked tuners alone. Gotta work to get hp out of your truck compared to 800hp out of maybe a grand

I call BS on the stacked tuners! If it was that easy there would be a lot of 800+ hp 6.0's.

Re: got beat by a duramax

Your truck is heavier and your tuning sucks compared to his.

Friend of mine has a ECSB LLY running Idaho Rob custom tunes, exhaust, lift pump, regulator plug, full intake with bigger mouth piece, stock height with bigger tires.

I ran him at a street drag event before a points race at the strip with my 03 running the mods in my sig. Gave him the hit off the flag man (about two lengths because I was looking at my boost gauge lol) and I was still able to go around him getting to the stripe just a little over one length ahead of him.

Try a custom tune, going from canned performance to the xstreet file was good for almost .5 on my ET which is a huge difference. 14.4-13.90 is noticeable lol

Re: got beat by a duramax

A common rail can make wayyyyy more hp than we can wth just a tune guys come on, we are also running bigger air and fuel I'm talking about running stock sticks and turbo with a tune only which is what the OP has...a 6.0 isn't gonna make that kinda hp with just a tune sorry.
